Autumn is my favourite time of year, to be honest. I love seeing the different colours that nature shows off. There is something homely and warm about it. It may have something to do with the pumpkin spice latte.
This time last year I was taking my 3-month-old son out for walks in the surrounding countryside in the baby carrier and showing him all the amazing colours, enjoying the peace and closeness. After the year and a half we have all had im sharing my favourite autumn delights.
The Colours
As I said I love the colours of this season the golds, the browns, the reds, and always feel inspired to create something. And nothing says autumn like pumpkins. After a year away from the computer I felt the need to create a 3D scene in Blender.
I'm enjoying exploring the textures and lighting of this scene to get the autumnal look. Expecially giving the pumpkin skins their own unique look and feel. Hopefully it will be finished intime for halloween.
The Smell
Oh my goodness the smells! Apples, baked in a pie. Cinnamon wafting in the air in coffee shops. Hot chocolate. And of course my all time favourite the pumpkin spice latte. (Which reminds me, must head to nearest Starbucks soon)
Nothing beats a good book, a blanket and a hot drink to keep those toes nice and cosy.
I love to bake. The smells coming from my kitchen marks the start of autumn with apples (homegrown) pumpkins and pecans in various forms of pie. I also get very creative with pie decorating and have some real fun. I'm drooling already.
Big Wolly Jumpers/Blankets
I love a big comfy jumper. Just imagine it, you have had a long day of helping a 1 year old jump in puddles and is, thankfully, now in bed, its getting chilly out, the fire is going, Bake Off is on the telly and you are curled up on the sofa in a big comfy jumper hugging a hot chocolate. Bliss.
A blanket is just as great. I have some really nice ones on standby. One is a gift from my mother in law Canada themed blanket. Only problem is I don't want to leave the sofa to go to bed. Just soooooooooo comfy.
Oh I almost forgot about super comfy jammies and big fluffy slippers!
The Decoration
This is also the time of year like to browse shops looking at home decor items. I don't tend to buy anything, just browse and imagine how it would like in a clutter free house (which my house isn't) there is something calming about browsing home items and thinking creatively on look and feel. Woody and orange tones just makes a house feel like a home.
And I just love to create these type of scenes in Blender.
Work
I'll be honest, this has been very slow. There are part-time jobs out there but seem inflexible to childcare. Currently waiting on a script for a promotional video where I have done some initial research as well as some video editing for social media videos for the same company, other jobs seem very little. wither this is due to the pandemic or Brexit it's been very difficult to find work. Even contacting old clients to look for new work has been futile. However, not fully giving up yet. I am hoping something will come up before resort to doing menial work to earn some cash (Turns out babies are not cheap).
This has been sort of good as my little boy brings home lovely nursery germs he is often needing extra cuddles during the day.
Considering a photography course and selling prints/images to earn some extra pumpkin spice latte money.
On the plus side it has also given me an opportunity to work on some personal projects
Well I hope that got you in the mood for autumn. Feel free to share your favourite autumn delights in the comments below.
And until next time
