So it’s December.
The twinkling Christmas lights are up, rosy cheek kids are putting up stockings, the nights are rolling in at 4 pm and it’s time for my quarterly blog update.
Click here for part 1 and part 2 and part 3 to discover more about my personal development journey in 2019.
Get some hot chocolate and throw in a mountain of marshmallows and let's get started.
Animation – Character
Since I completed my short series I have been focussing on smaller projects mostly around public holidays using a different type of character:
I think there have been areas that went well and, of course, there is always some areas that need improvement. Always important to continuously learn. But overall pretty happy with what I have learned from this year. Mostly thankful for Duik improving its user interface making rigging easier.

Modelling – Low Poly
I didn’t do too much on this, this year. The main aim was to have a better understanding of gaming characters and design. The reason I wanted to find out more was because of my interest in VR and AR allowing me to be more open to opportunities in that area.
But due to workload and having a lot of other things on the go as well as having a personal life this was sadly something that lost out.
Modelling – High poly
Blender 2.8 is still awesome. Obviously, as I am not working in it daily I am still struggling to learn the new quick keys and find my workflow again. I am currently working slowly through texturing my scene. I still go back to current textured items and adjusting them so it has been very slow
One thing I have started is doing some animating in Blender. I downloaded this rig and model from Blender swap and then I downloaded a reference video to work from and started working on that. It has been a while since I got stuck into any real 3D animation
In other news…the round up
I am have completed the first game in my Unity development course and started working on the extras for the game before moving onto the first-person shooter
I will have been self-employed for nearly a year, amazingly. I guess thanks to more resources being available and an amazing husband who has been supporting me throughout this journey has made things a little easier. There is still a long way to go and still need to show the world what I can do but right now 2020 is looking to be an exciting year.
And that’s it for the years personal goals round-up and for 2019
Thank you to those who have read my blog posts and visited my site this year. It is truly appreciated and if you have enjoyed anything or not liked anything feedback will be great to help me improve in the new year.
As usual, I am on social media. Mainly Twitter and LinkedIn. And mostly sharing funny animal gifs and share other amazing artists' work but feel free to connect. There is also my blog which is full of very interesting musings.
And last but not least…
