2021 has come to an end. Time to throw out the old wall calendar and put up a shiny new one and time to make those new years resolution right? Right?
I'll be honest I have been terrible at new year resolutions. Lasts about a month and then it all falls apart. But what has worked for me is setting quarterly goals for the year. See my LinkedIn articles So I aim to be doing something similar again this year. Will be keeping it simple as most of my time is spent looking after my son. Who is currently napping as a write this on my tablet, while having a green tea and mince pie.
Be better at character animation (2D)
This has been something I have been tinkering with on and off for a while and its definitely something I need to really focus on. I have worked on projects where videos needed to be turned out quickly with no chance of doing any development in character animation. I love the work of James Curran and DeeKay as their styles are fun, cute and a joy to watch. Something close to these styles is my dream.
More drawing
Since this is what got me into a creative career it seems fitting I should continue with this. However, I have been terrible and only really 'draw' when making storyboards. I got the 100 days of drawing book from Santa this year and I plan on following this guided sketchbook and enjoy drawing again. I'll be posting my progress on Twitter
Blender art
I already started a new project right before Christmas so this kinda needs to be on this list. I love working in 3D and want to keep my skills up. Just need to get better at that pesky texturing. Again I willbe posting regular updates to my Twitter feed. I have received a lot of good feedback on my previous projects since August so hopefully this will continue on the up.
Showreel
This is a ASAP thing. Just watched last years one and its quite frankly crap. Needs a desperate update, like NOW
So that is my basic goals for 2022. Also working on some amazing projects would also be 👍 for the year. Oh and baking. I miss having endless cakes in the house.
Little man is due to wake from his nap soon,so I'm going to enjoy the peace and quiet. Till next time folks. Stay sassy.
